Description

Letters patent creating Donald Maccarty, called Maccarty More, Knight, Earl of Clancarre and Baron of Valencia, in tail male, and granting him all the possessions which he formerly held by hereditary right.

Witnesses:--Sir Nicholas Bacon, Lord Keeper; Thomas Earl of Sussex, Chief Justiciary of all Forests, &c., this side Trent, and Captain of the Queen's Gentlemen Pensioners; Robert, Earl of Leicester; Sir William Cecil, Principal Secretary; Henry Sidney, and others (named).

Dated 24th June, 7 Eliz.

II. Form of the Earl's oath of fealty at Westminster, 24 June 1565. Signed: Donyll Clancarre.
