Title
Composite register
Date
1682-1769
Description

Baptisms 9 April 1682 - 27 June 1768

Marriages 25 April 1682 - 17 June 1753

Burials 13 November 1681 - 23 July 1769

Burials in woollen noted occasionally 1681 - 1717. Note in 1718 entries of fees due for the burial of Lady Dayrell at Hinxton in 1717, as yet unpaid.

At some stage the second half of the register now containing entries 1724- 1769, was cut up into regtangular pieces, with most leaves cut either into two or four parts. An attempt was later made to piece the leaves together again by means of postage stamp edging but several portions, including two complete leaves for the years 1720 - 1723, had already been lost. Entries now lacking are as follows:

1724 marriages; 1725 all except one baptism and two burials; 1726 last two baptisms; 1729 last six burials; 1731 baptisms (except one, illegible); 1734 baptisms and marriages; 1735 marriages and burials; 1736 marriages; 1737 baptisms and burials; 1738; marriages and burials; 1759 baptisms damaged by damp and partly illegible, burials; 1760 baptisms partly illegible, last two missing, burials; 1761, 1762 all entries; 1763 all baptisms except one; 1766 last two burials partly illegible; 1767 all entries; 1768 last burial; 1769 all except two burials. Entries 1768 - 1769 cancelled, with note that they were re-written in new register (P35/1/3).

Note

Many of the omissions in this register have been supplied from the Bishop's Transcripts by Mr. T.P.R. Layng, who has transcribed, collated and indexed all register entries for Shudy Camps between 1558 and 1841.
