Administrative / biographical background

The Lodge of Three Grand Principles was established in 1772 and met at the Queen's Head, Gray's Inn Gate, Holborn, London. In 1772 the lodge was named the Lodge of Unanimity and in 1790 it was renamed the Master Mariner's Lodge. In 1793 it was renamed again, becoming the Lodge of Three Grand Principles. In 1775 the lodge was erased but in 1777 it was reinstated. In 1793 the lodge met at the King's Head Tavern, Upper Street, Islington, London and the meetings remained there until the lodge lapsed about 1803.
