Gallantry Notes: MC: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During an attack, when enemy snipers were very active, he got his guns into action and by skilful handling saved the infantry many casualties. When the flank of the brigade was exposed, he got four guns into action and enabled the infantry to consolidate the ground gained. When the enemy counter attacked, he kept his guns firing continuously under heavy shell fire. He set his men a most inspiring example throughout the operations.;

Sent to England as a battle casualty 22/3/1918 - 2 W Gen Hosp, Manchester "whilst firing a machine gun, a bullet hit his helmet over the left (unreadable) region. He became unconcious and lost his speech for about ten days".(concussion) Suffers recurrent headaches and bouts of giddiness.
Released 14/12/1918;
