1847. 'Literary and scientific register and compendium of facts'. With manuscript pages and notes on front and back cover.

SSC/143/3:
1849 [and 1853]. 'Rough notes for my journal 1849'. Contents mainly cover April, May, June, July, August, September and October 1849. Despite title, includes a small number of *1853* entries in latter third of volume: note that several of these pages have specific 1853 date headings but no actual entries. Last few pages: Number of versts (obsolete Russian unit of measurement) travelled and the time each date, A catalogue of sketches made in the Alatau Mountains, the Kirgis Steppe and the Altai in 1849. Loose enclosure at front of diary: Captain Jack R.N. Commanding Her Majesty's ship 'Thunder'. 107 guns.
SSC/143/4:

Same page holds, at top right, an impressed mark - it appears to be the imperial crest of Tsar Nicholas I (lozenge reading 'Imperator' across top, 'N' & '1' below).
SSC/143/5:
1851 [and 1852]. Includes some *1852* travels for c.20 pages at beginning, covering 11 August to 5 September 1852 (see pencilled 'August' annotations), despite the heading: 'Rough for my journal 1851'. Extra piece on front free end paper; 'A list of our effects left in Irkoutsk 23rd May with Mr Basniu the Mayor'. Begins Tuesday 1st May, ends Wednesday 3rd September. Last few pages are 'A catalogue of sketches made in 1851'. (6 p.). Cash paid for the road also to the Cossacks and Bouriats.
