Description (What the record is about)
-
In order to administer as efficiently as possible all the revenues placed in their hands the Trustees kept a close check on the payment of rents for leases of impropriate tithes and the sums available for augmentations in each district. A great deal of the business carried out at the meetings of the Trustees (see minute books COMM/4 and general order books COMM/5) related to the negotiation and renewal of leases. They were careful to give only short leases, and to renew them at higher rents if possible. The values and terms of the leases before the disestablishment of the church had been recorded in the surveys of the lands of bishops, and deans and chapters, made between 1647 and 1651 (see COMM/12A). This section consists of lists and tables recording the values of the impropriations, and the details of the new leases made by the Trustees.
