Description

Release of legacy charged on the Weston Estate by George Harris of the Moat, Co. Salop, farmer, and Margaret his wife and John Harris of the same place, farmer, and Edward Weaver of the Mount, Montgomery, farmer and Margaret his wife.

Recital that Samuel Groves late of Priest Weston, husbandman, decd., by his will of 21 Nov. 1828 gave his house, farm and lands at Weston to his son Wm Groves forever, and to the testator's daughter Margaret, wife of George Harris, the interest of £150 paid at Lady Day and Mich. for her life, and after her death £150 to be applied amongst her children, remainder to the surviving children, to be paid 7 yrs after the death of his wife; and he charged the freehold house at Priest Weston with the payment. He died on 8 Oct. 1829 and she died on 15 Feb. 1831. George Harris and Margaret his wife are still living and she has 2 children living, the said John Harris and Margaret wife of Edward Weaver, both over 21.

William Groves by his will of 20 July 1838 left all his freehold property at Priest Weston to Robert and Samuel Groves in trust to sell the same. He died 22 Nov. 1838.

Recital of lease and release of 24 & 25 March 1840, being a conveyance of the premises to Sir Offley Penbury Wakeman charged with the £150 for the benefit of Margaret Harris and her children. George Harris and Margaret, and John Harris and Edward Weaver and Margaret have requested Sir O.P. Wakeman to pay them £150 which he has agreed to do, on their releasing him and the property from the sum and interest and indemnifying him.

In consideration of £150 they release him and the premises from the sum.

Enclosed 2873/17-20 extracts from registers made in 1855.
