Description (What the record is about)
-
Half-leather album, measuring 255 x 295 mm, in a stitched cloth cover, containing mounted prints with captions and dates in Wilberforce-Bell's hand. The title is handwritten on a white label stuck on the front cover. Wilberforce-Bell's bookplate is on the free endpaper. The album contains snapshots taken in France, England, Aden, Eritrea and India. The majority are social life and sporting scenes with some official functions, notably the arrival of the new Italian Governor in Asmara, Eritrea and distant views of Haile Selassie's visit to Aden. Interesting views of fishing in Kolhapur and interiors of the Wilberforce-Bell's residencies. The most interesting topographical and architectural views are of France, but there are some Aden views and miscellaneous Indian views most notably Chamba.
