Administrative / biographical background

Poole's Myrioramas was founded in 1837 as a travelling exhibition and did not set up a permanent base in Gloucester until 1910

A myriorama was a largely pre-cinematic form of entertainment which used moving, painted canvasses of contemporary scenes and historical events together with a spoken story to both educate and amuse audiences

The depositor is the grandson of Arthur C Rogers, the firm's original scenic artist, and the son of Ernest C Rogers, Poole's Managing Director, 1950-c.1970
