Photocopy of a well-written ts account (148pp), prepared from earlier drafts in 1979, giving a detailed description of his experiences as a prisoner of war with F Force on the Burma-Slam railway from April - August 1943, beginning with the journey by rail from Singapore to Banpong, but covering in particular his party's extremely arduous march via the camps at Kancharaburi, Tarsao, Wampo, Kinsaiyok, Prangkassi and Konkuita to Nikki at the Northern end of the Burma-Siam railway, and life and his employment as a tree feller and logger at Nikki from June until the camp was closed in August and he was moved to a hospital camp at Tambaya in Burma; together with the original ts and ms drafts (144pp) of the narrative and his prisoner's identity tag. Ted, who was serving as a corporal in the Johore Volunteer Engineers when he was taken prisoner on the fall of Singapore, offers an extended analysis of how he and his fellow prisoners of war attempted to survive the extremes of physical exhaustion and privation to which they were subjected.
