Administrative / biographical background

The Shop Rents Sub-Committee was originally appointed as a special committee, but its life span lasted a little longer. Its function was to consider the rents for municipal lock-up shops. The sub-committee was renamed the Shop Sub-Committee in November 1962, to reflect its increased role, which now included the provision of further municipal shops.
