Conington is an ancient parish. Until 1837 it was within the diocese of Lincoln; since then it has belonged to the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon, in the diocese of Ely.
The parish was within the Peterborough Poor Law Union 1836-1930, Peterborough Rural Sanitary District 1875-1894 and Norman Cross Rural District 1894-1974. Since 1974 the parish has been within Huntingdonshire District.
