Title
John Dicken writes to Richard Hill.
Date
Drayton, 27th June, 1722
Description

He hopes Hill received his of the 23rd written under cover to Geo. Clarke, esq. at Hill's house in London, enclosing a lease for the cottage in Longford.

He has been at Hawkstone. The brickwall to divide the upper from the lower court has been built as Hill ordered. There is room in the middle for a small pair of peers and Hill's directions are desired. The front peers are all stone.

Wm. Price the mason has begun to get stone above the parterre garden for coping the walls and will finish all his work at Hawkstone as fast as he can. The paver is now at work upon the ring round the grass plot in the lower court, the rest being finished.

He has also been at Yorton, Hoolstone & Weston Lullingfield and will have the repairs completed before the bad weather.

Mr. Wycherley's tenant came to Dicken at Wem fair to say he has orders from his landlord to pay his rent to Dicken.

Wm. Jennings says that young Mr. Minshull was born at Stocke near "Namptwich" and is about 35 years of age, so that he would be of age some years before Hill purchased from his brother. Dicken will search the parish register at Nantwich for his age. He enclosed a rent roll of Hawkstone. Northwood Hall and the estate belonging in Wem is now again for sale. He has offered £1,200 for it for Hill, but £1,300 is insisted upon.
