Collection of 11 ms diaries and other papers relating to his service as a pilot in the RFC (later RAF) on active service in France with No.4 Squadron RFC (July 1916 - March 1917), in the UK with No. 52 Reserve Squadron RFC (March 1917 - March 1918), with No. 94 Squadron RAF in the UK and in France (November 1918 - February 1919) and with No. 32 Squadron RAF also in France (February - October 1919); with the Rifle Brigade in Ireland (January - April 1921); as Commanding Officer of the Equatorial Corps of the Sudan Defence Force during the Abyssinian campaign (August 1939 - October 1941) and also covering his posting in September 1943 to the Long Range Penetration Force in Burma under Major General Orde Wingate, as Second in Command of 16th Brigade where his responsibilities included organising supply drops for the Chindits until their evacuation (April 1944) and the abolition of his post, after which he returned to the Sudan (May 1944); together with his report on the Equatorial Corps, Sudan Defence Force during the Maji campaign (April - October 1941), correspondence (February - July 1945) relating to the Official History of the East African Campaign, photographs, press cuttings and his pay book.
