Description (What the record is about)

A Court of Sessions and Gaol Delivery was held at least once a year, most commonly in April. Original Rolls exist from 1813-28; before this, the papers have been arranged under the date of a session where known and otherwise in annual bundles. The papers include precepts from the Water Bailiff to summon the Grand Jury and Petty Jury; lists of jurymen; presentments of officers; constables of the Upper and Lower Wards, ale-taster, and flesh searcher; and recognizances to appear, keep the peace, and be of good behaviour, relating to cases of assault, bastardy and felony.

For references Fo/J/Q/3/48-66 each file (or roll) includes precepts to warn the jury, lists of jurymen and officers (except 1815), and recognizances to appear, keep the peace etc. (except 1822). Other items are as noted.
