Ref: 4096R/4. 1 The overspeed tests had disclosed permanent distortion of the rim of the second stage disc which had heeled in a forward direction. The spacer ring flange had also run on the rear face. At design rpm, dilation of the second stage disc was more than twice that of the first stage
