Black and blue half-leather album, measuring 388 x 274 mm, containing mounted prints with handwritten captions. The front free endpaper is signed: 'John W. Watson, 1898-1910'. The majority of photographs are the work of professional photographers and include: portraits of medical officers training at Netley Hospital; views in Sindh, including Hyderabad architecture and officers of the 19th Bombay Infantry; views at Chaman, Shelabagh, Quetta, Malakand, Khar and Chakdarra; Karli caves; various views and portraits in Poona, including a fancy dress group at Ganeshkhind and staff of the Bombay Command; miscellaneous views throughout NE Iran (Mashhad etc), Georgia (Tbilisi), Uzbekistan (Samarkand, Bukhara), Greece (Athens), Turkey (Istanbul), Turkmenistan (Geok-Tepe) and Azerbaijan (Baku). John Williams Watson (b. 1874) served in the Indian Medical Service from 1898-1929. In 1908 he was civil surgeon at the Consulate at Turbat-i-Haidari, south of Meshed.
