Description (What the record is about)

George Felton (1921-2019) was one of the UK computer industry’s foremost software authorities. Felton read maths and physics at Cambridge University.In 1951 he joined Elliott Brothers, where he designed the programming system for the Nicholas computer. In 1954, he joined Ferranti where he was responsible for the design of the Pegasus programming system. After Ferranti’s computer division was acquired by ICT in 1963, Felton became manager of system software for the 1900 series.
