Robt. Baker alias Miller of Plymouth, merchant.
(Rec. of conveyance by Jn. Fowell to s. Ed. Fowell 5 May, 1632 mess. and gdn. called Ladywell alias Quarry Well and 1 a. N. of way from Plymouth to Plympton. (i) cov. to levy a fine. Rec. of lease from Chas. Hooper uncle of Jn. Fowell of 25 Oct. 1593 to Robt. Baker alias Miller and w. Anne (decd.) and their s. Robt., mess. ten. and gdn. in west part of High Street, Plymouth and north side of Lyneham Street on lives of Robt. Baker, sen. and w. Ann with redr. to s. for life.
Rent £3 6s. 8d. Rec. will of Chas. Hooper of 25 May, 1607 devised this property to Jn. Fowell. Rec. of lease of 16 October, 1628, of mess. and gdn. etc. in High Street.
Jn. Fowell to Ric. Tapper of Plymouth merchant and Ric. Chandler of Plymouth, goldsmith. For 99 yrs. or lives of Alice w. of Robert Baker alias Miller the s. and Jn. Baker alias Miller s. of Jn. Baker alias Miller decd. Term to begin on determination of Robt. Baker alias Miller the son's estate. Rent £3 6s. 8d. Lease made for benefit of Alice the w. in case she survived her husband. Rec. of mortgage by Jn. Fowell of 4 May, 1632 to Edmond Fowell -- mess. and ten. (as before) and annuity of 8d. out of ten. (Porter's) adjg. Provision in this for (i) to levy a fine. Fine levied to (ii) Easter Term, 1632 for both properties.)
Ladywell to use of Edmond Fowell High street premises to use of Robt. Baker alias Miller for life. Then to use of Ric. Tapper and Ric. Chandler for term of 99 yrs. with reversion to use of Edmond Fowell forever.
Seals and tags missing, one slit left (broken).
