Custodial history (Describes where and how the record has been held from creation to transfer to The National Archives)
-
INTRODUCTION p276/12/A/1-57
These documents were transferred from the Oliver MSS at Vestry House Museum, Waltham Forest as records that should belong with those of other Kentish parishes, in the Kent Archives Office. As such, they have been listed here in the order they were given within that collection.
Each of the items listed here appears to have originally been part of a volume of overseers accounts, and thus the difference between the two dates on one folio is often quite marked.
These documents have been extensively repaired, as they were (many of them) in a rather poor and fragmentary state when they arrived here. Some of them are still partially or largely illegible, with portions missing from many of the pages.
The dates are those of the actual account or assessment, where that is given and is legible, otherwise the date of ratification is shown.
