Administrative / biographical background

Sidcup United Reformed Church had its origins in the year 1876 when a committee was formed to establish a Congregational Church. A site was secured in Station Road and a church built in 1887-1888 at a cost of £3,804. Following the union of the Congregational Church of England and Wales with the Presbyterian Church of England in 1972, the church became the Sidcup United Reformed Church. In 1976 the church united with Sidcup Methodist Church to become the Emmanuel Church, now based at the former Methodist Church in Granville Road.
