Land Tax Assessments

These Land Tax Assessments, deposited with the Clerk of the Peace, form part of the Enrolments, Registration, Deposits and Returns section of the Caernarvonshire Quarter Sessions Records. The assessments were deposited originally under the Act of 18 Geo. II c.18 (1745). Under the Act of 20 Geo. II c.17 (1780), they were deposited as a check upon voters at Parliamentary elections. They give the names of the proprietors and occupiers assessed to the Land Tax and usually the name of the property and the amount of tax payable.
