Mainly from Tufton Beamish based with the Northumberland Fusiliers at Newcastle and involved in training in machine gunnery, driving, maintenance and signalling, Sep 1939 - Apr 1940 (19 items)

TB was awaiting another posting abroad; the letters describe the work at Newcastle, and the social life there. No 1 is a letter to Admiral Beamish from General R Gordon-Finlayson about using his influence for TB (Sep 1939); no 10 is from John Beamish (TB's brother) at Newbury (Dec 1939)
