The first meeting to form a Teachers& apos; Group was held at Jessop Hospital on 10 February 1949, attended by 25 midwife teachers from Sheffield, Chesterfield, Rotherham and elsewhere. An executive committee was elected and once approval was granted by the Royal College of Midwives, the first official meeting was held on 10 March 1949.
