Accounts of Wm. Eboral, clerk of the course at Warwick Races, 1785, Thos. Webb Edge, Esq., steward: receipts & disbursements, - carriage of candles from London; to the band of musick £17. 6s. 6d.; sweatmeats, lamplighting; advertizing races £13. 19s. 1d.; ropes for course; chairs hired; to the trumpeter for starting the horses £1. 1s.; to Thos. Masters and Simon Ward holding flaggs £1. 1s.; to the herd driving the common 5s.; to Geo. Nuttall for county plate £50; sweepstakes £73. 10s.; total disbursements £261. 3s. 7d.; while total receipts amounted to £211. 3s. 8d., deficit £49. 19s. 11d.
