This Committee was preceded by the County Planning Sub-Committee (Highways and Bridges Committee), 1930-1948 (CC/MPM 1-9) and the Planning Development Committee, 1944-1945 (CC/PDM 1). Until 12 May 1950 this Committee was called the Planning Committee and following local government reorganisation its responsibilities were taken over by the Planning and Industrial Development Committee.
