Loose prints, with captions and cropping instructions on the reverse. The prints are the originals used for reproduction in Marshall's The Buddhist Art of Gandhara (Cambridge: 1960) and captions have been taken from that book. The illustrations come from a variety of sources (mainly museums in Europe and India) and these are sometimes listed with the captions or on the reverse of the prints. The illustration number in the book itself is listed in square brackets after the print. The captions also note other works where the various pieces are either illustrated or described, and the following abbreviations are used:. A.B.-B.G. A. Foucher, L'art gréco-bouddhique du Gandhara (Paris: 1905-51). A.M.I. James Burgess, Ancient Monuments of India (London: 1897-1911). A.S.I. Archaeological Survey of India. A.S.R.
