Thomas James Vickers, 1 of the surgeons of Thomas's Hospital, London.
A marriage has been agreed between Val. Vickers jnr. and Susanna Gittins.
Susanna Cherrington, widow, by her will of 23 April 1760, inter alia, gave to Samuel Cheeke and William Billingsley (both decd.) a third of the messuage called the White Horse Inn, Frankwell (John Williams) except 2 pieces of land with stables on them, which she had disposed of; and a messuage (Ab. Meighen as undertenant of J. Williams) forever, on trust to pay the rents of her niece Margaret Gittins for life, then to pay the same towards the maintenance and education of any child or children of Margaret Gittins until they were 21, and when they reached 21 to convey their share in the premises to them. Margaret Gittins died leaving Susannah Gittins and one other daughter. Susannah G. is 21 so entitled to her half of the third.
Susanna Gittins agrees it should be conveyed to John Bather and Thomas J. Vickers on trusts.
Whereas William Billingsley, gent, by his will of 27 October 1767 gave £1,000 to his wife for life, then to his 3 daughters equally. Margaret Billingsley his wife, died, and on her death Susanna Gittins and her sister Martha, the only children of Margaret Gittins who was one of the three daughters of the testator, their mother being dead, became entitled to £1,000.
William Billingsley placed out at interest several sums amounting to £1,000 on the credit of the tolls of several turnpike roads in Warwickshire and Staffordshire (Castle Bromwich to Birmingham as far as relate fo the 4th district of the roads) the several sums of £600, £100 and £100, and on the road from a village the Welch Harp, Staffs, to the Stone Bridge in the Parish of Hampton on Arden, Warws, £200, making in all £1,000. The legatees under William Billingsley's will have accepted securities for the said sums and Susanna Gittins is now entitled to a sixth of £1,000 now at interest on the credit of the tolls, amounting to £166 13s 4d. Jane Cole, gentlewoman, by her will of 14 January 1780, gave to her great niece, Susanna Gittins, £200 and appointed her niece executrix and soon died. The deficiency in money for payment of legacies due to Susanna Gittins is £186. Margaret Billingsley by her will of 12 April 1781 died and, inter alia, gave to her granddaughter, Susanna Gittins, £100, and appointed Humphrey Sandford, Esq., her sole executor and soon died.
William Gittins by his will of 15 October 1782, inter alia, left the rest of his estate to John Bather, snr. and Thomas Parry, his executors, on trust to pay a third to his daughter Susanna Gittins.
By indenture of 6 January 1783 between William Parry, gent (1) John Bather, gent (2) William Parry was indebted by bond to William Gittins decd. in £494 to be secured in the name of John Bather in trust for Ann Gittins, widow, and Mary her daughter (who is entitled to a third of the sum) and Susanna Gittins and Martha Gittins who were entitled to the other 2/3, for better securing the sum mortgaged to John Bather 2 pieces of meadow land in Erwas Harold, Herefs., Preseodlinney and Mallen Meadows for 500 years.
Susanna Gittins' third amounts to £164 1s 8d
Ann Gittins by bond of 25 March 1784 is bound to John Bather and Thomas Parry in £1,048 for payment of £170 due to Susanna Gittins under her father's will.
Susanna Gittins is entitled to a further sum of £40.
All the sums amount to £827.
Susanna Gittins, etc. agree to transfer the sum to John Bather jnr. and Thomas J. Vickers on trusts herein declared.
By indenture of 25 March 1784 between William Yelverton Davenport, Esq (1) Valentine Vickers snr (2) in consideration of rents, Davenport let to V. Vickers the messuage and farmhouse called Cranmere Hall with lands (V. Vickers snr) and and the messuage and land at or near Cranmere (John Butcher) and tithes for the same, to Val Vickers for 21 years, paying for Cranmere Hall Farm and lands £142 p.a. and for the house and garden £4 4s, and for the tithes £24. Val. Vickers agrees to assign the lease for the rest of the term and the contents of the same at the value of £1039 5s 8d. This is now done, the property to V. Vickers jnr. for the rest of 21 years, and the goods etc. forever. V. Vickers jnr covenants with John Bather and T.J. Vickers that after the marriage he will pay them £400 on trusts, the interest to be paid to Susanna Gittins for life.
