Description (What the record is about)
-
As with the printed annual reports at LMA/4459/A/03, these items provide an excellent first point of reference for historians of the Institution or of the people associated with it. The information booklets give useful overviews of the Institution's various departments and activities. The Notes provide a commentary on the human interest side of the institution: accounts of social events, articles about governesses and education, and events within the Institution that would have an impact on its residents and members. Candidate lists continue where the annual reports left off in 1924 describing the personal circumstances of candidates for annuities and the Charity Reform Association publications give an insight into the context in which charities operated in the late 19th century.
