Appointment of Rev. Moses Morgan as Chaplain to county gaol revoked. Ordered that M.M. be appointed chaplain to gaol and bridewell at Bodmin at yearly salary of £50. Divine service to be performed in the gaol as previously. Rev. Charles Lethbridge appointed chaplain to Launceston Gaol at yearly salary of £25. Prayers of Church of England to be read in the gaol at a fixed hour every Sunday, and sermon to be preached on at least one Sunday in every month.

P.C. fined 1s. paid in court and one month in house of correction. W.H. fined 1s. paid in court and 12 months in bridewell, and to enter into recognizance of £50 to keep the peace, particularly to W.J. for 7 years.

Salt Duty

Philip Huxtable, master, and Edward Murphy, mate, of sloop 'Friends' of Fowey stated on oath that on 21 July last they shipped at Liverpool 2,209 bushels of British fishery salt to carry it to Ropehaven in port of Fowey on account of Henry Lambe, esq., fish curer. In a storm on 15 Aug. 72 bushels 42lbs of salt was lost: Collector of Excise to cancel bond.

Joshua Williams, master, and John Bryan, mate, of sloop 'Peggy' of Cardigan stated on oath that on 2 July last they shipped at Liverpool 2,250 bushels of British fishery salt to carry it to Penzance, on account of Thomas Love, fish curer. On 3 Sep. in a storm off Lands End 76 bushels of salt was lost: Collector of Excise to cancel bond.

James Broad, master, and Alexander McLeod, mate, of sloop 'James and John' of Plymouth, stated on oath they shipped at Liverpool 2,250 bushels of British fishery salt to carry it to St. Ives on account of Joseph Hocking, of Falmouth, fish curer. Whilst cargo being discharged a storm blew up, the vessel sprang a leak and 262 bushels of salt was lost: Collector of Excise to cancel bond.

Francis Tomlinson, master, and Richard Webb, mate, of sloop 'Anna Teresa' of Plymouth, stated on oath that on 22 May they shipped at Liverpool 1,767 bushels 48lbs of British fishery salt to carry it to St. Ives on account of Joseph Hocking, fish curer. In a storm en route 118 bushels 48lbs salt was lost: Collector of Excise to cancel bond.

Richard Gould, master, and John Benoke, mate, of brigantine 'Mary' of Padstow, stated on oath that on 4 June last they shipped at Liverpool 2,611 bushels 34lbs of British fishery salt to carry it to St. Ives on account of Thomas Tremayne, fish curer. In a storm between Holyhead and St. Ives on 8, 9 and 10 July, the vessel sprang a leak and 99 bushels 34lbs of salt was lost: Collector of Excise to cancel bond.

Ezekiel Collins, master, and Joseph Furze, mariner, of sloop 'Defence' of Fowey, stated on oath that from 3 to 6 July last they shipped at Liverpool 3,375 bushels of British fishery salt to carry it to St. Ives, on account of Daniel Freeman, fish curer. In a storm on 16 July 247 bushels of salt was lost: Collector of Excise to cancel bond.
