Observation books and report produced as part of the boundary demarcation between lakes Nyasa and Tanganyika, delimiting the territories of Rhodesia, British Central Africa and German East Africa. Comprises the following:. 5 bound volumes of observations entitled 'Nyasa-Tanganyika Boundary. 1898.' Comprises astronomical and clock observations and computations, traverse observations, horizontal and vertical angle observations, and triangulation angle and length computations; also includes 3 letters (1 in German). (Dy 100 A; DS 305 A(2); DS 305 A(3)). 'Report by Captain Close, R.E., on the Delimitation of the Nyasa-Tanganyika Boundary in 1898.' 1 volume dated 1899. Printed; 34 x 22cm. (Dy 1. (part); Dy 100 A; DS 305 A(1)). Incomplete copy of Captain Close's report (see above). 9 pages. Bromide (white on black); 33 x 21cm. (Dy 1. (part); Dy 100 A). Used in the compilation of Intelligence Division, War Office maps numbers 1396 (Nyasa-Tanganyika Boundary, scale 1:20,000, 1 sheet) and 1397 (Map of the country between Lakes Nyasa and Tanganyika, scale 1:250,000, 3 sheets), both dated 1899 and filed at Maps MOD IDWO 1896 and Maps MOD IDWO 1897 respectively.
