St. James' Union Lodge No. 180 was established in 1787 and named in 1817. In 1787 the lodge met at the Bull's Head, Princes Street, Westminster, London. The lodge moved to many locations around London and in 1824 met at the Red Lion, Old Cavendish Street, Oxford Street, London. While still meeting at the Red Lion in 1826 the lodge united with the Lodge of Good Intent, No. 479, of Old Chesterfield Arms, Shepherds Market, London. The united lodge continued to be called the St. James' Union Lodge and met at the Old Chesterfield Arms. The lodge moved to various inns and taverns around London until 1865 when it started to meet at Freemasons' Hall, Great Queen Street, London. The lodge continues to use Freemasons' Hall for its meetings.
