REDEMPTION CERTIFICATES

This series contains certificates of redemption of tithes. These certificates record the payment by the landowner of capital value of the tithe or rent-charge to the incumbent vicar or rector of the parish as a final settlement for a particular piece of land. Each certificate refers to the numbers assigned to each piece of land in the corresponding tithe plan or apportionment see DL/TI/A. In this catalogue list where land plan numbers have been given in brackets, these are the original certificate numbers.

The certificates relate to the following parishes:

The awards are arranged by parish and then chronologically according to the date of signing of the certificate. Those certificates with file references '372/...' are additional records which were deposited at a later date, and which have been added to the end of each parish section in chronological order.
