Salt Duty
James Hill, master of sloop 'Fancy' of Plymouth, and Samuel Berry, mate stated on oath that on 21 July last they shipped at Liverpool 1,607 bushels and 8 lbs. of British fishery salt to carry it to St. Michael's Mount, in port of Penzance, on account of James Matthews, fish curer. They sailed on 2 Aug. and on 5 Aug. they ran into a storm. The vessel took in water and 55 bushels 8 lbs. of salt were lost. Collector of Excise to cancel bond.
