Description

This series comprises Mineral Gallery and exhibit records of the British Museum (Natural History) Department of Mineralogy.

The papers relate to the display of specimens in the Mineral Gallery, or to temporary displays in other parts of the Museum. Some items list and show layouts of the specimens themselves, while others provide details of accessory materials such as photographs or text labels.

Immediate source of acquisition
Custodial history: Papers in this series were gathered from different parts of the Department. Some files were kept in the Keeper's office, some probably came from among the collection notes in the petrology and mineralogy sections, while others may well have been taken from the working papers of the scientists concerned.
