OTC member and Head of School House Corps. Was about to gfo to Corpus Christi, Cambridge, but vol for active service andgazetted 2Lt 17 Liverpools 1/9/14.Went France with 89 Bde as MG officer in 1915. Gazetted Capt MGC 14/1/16 and Major 12/9/18 having been app Bde MG Officer early in 1915. In battles of Somme, Montauban, Trones Wood & Guillemont July-Aug 1916 and at Ypres 31/7/17 - 3/8/17. Subs at Cambrai April 1918. Commandant of MG Sch Camiers, training US troops, May-Sept 1918 and att 63 Naval Div in Sept and was KIA at Cambrai 2/10/18. Buried at Graincourt Cem. His death was unfortunate and tragic, he had only returned to billets, from the burial of a brother officer when our area was shelled with the result that he was killed instantly. He was MID (LG 9/4/17) by FM Sir D Haig and awarded MC(LG 3/8/17) . Unmarried.
