Brian Dilks was born in 1915 at Worsley and lived at 'Springbank' from 1921 to 1933. He attended Worsley Congregational Church and later Manchester Grammar School. He moved to London in 1937 and met his wife there through his involvement with the United Nations League. His father, Harcourt Leslie Dilks, was the manager at Deans Mill in Swinton and Brian Dilks eventually went into the business moving back to Manchester In 1961. See also deposit 1107.
*Deans Mill was in Deans Road in Swinton and was demolished in 1973. It was run by Simpson and Godlee Ltd before 1900 and closed as a mill in 1962. From 1867 called Dan Saul's Mill.
