INTRODUCTION

David Julian Cutten, born in 1951, was the only one of Mervyn Cutten's children to take up his interest in family history. After his sudden death in 1996, his papers, along with a substantial library collection and a set of National Probate Index microfiches, were bequeathed to the care of West Sussex Record Office.
