Folios 187-188. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to Charles Wright, Clerk to the Mitford and Launditch Rural Sanitary Authority, acknowledging receipt of his letter of 26 February 1875 requesting sanction, to pay him £45, for his service to the year end. They query the amount being for general expenses when they understand he will be remunerated for all his services rendered to the sanitary authority irrespective of their purpose or object. The Board thinks that the proper course to be adopted is for each sanitary authority to grant the clerks a reasonable remuneration, with the amount being calculated according to the extent of the duties, which have actually devolved upon them. They request for the subject to be reconsidered.
