The Lodge of Union No. 268 was established in 1788 and met at the Blackmoor's Head, Old Churchyard, Manchester. In 1822 the lodge moved from Manchester to Mellor, Derbyshire, meeting at the Devonshire Arms, Newhouse Hill. In 1840 the lodge moved to Shuttle Inn, Compstall Bridge, Ludworth, Derbyshire and in 1860 the lodge moved to Ashton-?under-?Lyne, Lancashire, meeting at the Queen's Arms Inn, George Street. The lodge now meets at the Masonic Hall, Albert House, Jowett's Walk, Ashton-?under-?Lyne.
