Description (What the record is about)
-
Series of records relating to particular subjects coming under the remit of the Social Policy Committee and/or its predecessors, with some of the sub-series beginning with one of these predecessors and continuting as SPC. Some of the sub-series cover a range of particular issues under a more generic title. For example, under the heading 'Children' can be found files pertaining to adoption, illegitemacy, legislation affecting children, correspondence with the Church of England Children's Society amongst others. Material found within files can include correspondence with organisations and individuals associated with the subject or with diocesan Social Responsibility Officers seeking guidance on particular issues, notes of meetings - often handwritten by the SPC Secretary, and circulars and papers which have been gathered by the Secretary to be used for background information.
