Administrative / biographical background

Harmony Lodge was granted a warrant by the Antients' Grand Lodge to meet as No. 205(B) on 27 December 1804. The Lodge met at the Market House Inn, Market Street, Plymouth and met at several different hostelries in Plymouth before settling at the Huyshe Masonic Temple in 1866.. The Lodge was named in 1814 when the Lodge was allocated to meet as No. 256 after the union between the Antients' and Moderns' Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England. The Lodge was renumbered as No. 182 in 1832 and finally as No. 156. The Lodge still exists today and meets at Freemasons' Hall, North Hill, Plymouth, Devon. The Lodge was granted a Centenary warrnt on 1 December 1904 and a bi-centenary warrant on 27 December 2004.
