Description

Addressed to the senior constable of Lewes, on their departing from the town, expressing their gratitude and good will towards the inhabitants who have received them with 'a frank and generous courtesy, which convinced us that the people of Lewes regarded us less as the subjects of a foreign and hostile power, than as men who in the discharge of their duty had fallen into misfortune'
