Collection of loose prints in two parts. Sir Samuel Findlater Stewart (1879-1960), entered the India Office in 1903 and became Joint Secretary of the Military Department in 1920. He was Secretary to the Lee Commission 1923-24 and to the Simon Commission 1927-30. He served as Permanent Under Secretary of State for India from 1930-42 and retired in 1945.
