Description (What the record is about)
-
This sub-collection contains correspondence with various individuals (listed by name, see: APO/3/1-7) and a general A-Z (by surname) of additional letters (see: APO/3/8).
The letters are predominantly of a professional nature, but also include discussion of personal issues. They are very different in tone and content: some files contain a set of letters on a particular subject or initiative/transaction; others are more conversational in nature and cover various subjects. In the latter instance, a summary has been offered here to convey the general points of discussion and, as such, it should be noted that not all names, artists or organisations mentioned in the letters will necessarily have been listed.
This arrangement largely follows Oppé's own organisation of the letters, which were kept in alphabetical order in binders. A few additional letters, which were found to be loose elsewhere in this collection, have been inserted into this sequence.
