Custodial history

After the death of Mr Amos, the Bank's last manager, its books and papers were stored in the crypt of Dover Town Hall. Unfortunately, the surviving records are very incomplete.

Administrative / biographical background

The Dover Savings Bank was established in February 1825 and lasted 70 years. It was closed due to the Post Office Savings Bank offering greater facilities.
