Blues miscellanies

This sub-series consists principally of a series of tapes Oliver referred to as ''blues miscellanies', generally compilations dubbed from pre-war 78s, which were often sent to him by other collectors in the early 1960s (before the rise of reissue LPs made much of the material more widely available). Oliver labelled this series with the prefix 'B' (i.e. B1, B2, etc) - apparently to distinguish it from the specifically Texas-themed 'T' series - and generally retained typed tracklists. In addition to the B series, there are also various similar tapes without systematic labels which have been grouped here, some of which contain non-blues material.

Where original tracklists were available they have been transcribed and checked against the audio; where no tracklist was available, they have been reconstructed as far as possible through listening research (which included use of the song identification app Shazam). Note that tape B21 appears to have been lost, and there is no extant evidence of the reference B14 having been used at all; B5 can be found on the second side of Texas compilation T1 (see POAAAM/3/1/4/1), and B13 appears to have been used as a duplicate designation of T15 (see POAAAM/3/1/4/15)).
