Deposited in the East Sussex Record Office on 14 February 1965 by Thomas Eggar and Son, Solicitors, 9, Old Steyne, Brighton, acting for the Chichester Diocesan Fund and Board of Finance (Incorporated), the sole trustees of the school.

Administrative / biographical background

East Dean and Friston C of E school was closed by the Local Education Authority in April 1964. Upon closure, the sites and buildings comprising the School and Teacher's House reverted to the estates of the original grantors under the provisions of Section 2 of the School Sites Act, 1841. These were the descendants of the late Mrs Amabel Margaret Parrington and Carew Davies Gilbert.
