East Dean and Friston C of E school was closed by the Local Education Authority in April 1964. Upon closure, the sites and buildings comprising the School and Teacher's House reverted to the estates of the original grantors under the provisions of Section 2 of the School Sites Act, 1841. These were the descendants of the late Mrs Amabel Margaret Parrington and Carew Davies Gilbert.
