Folio 720. Letter from Charles Wright, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, informing them that the guardians have elected Robert Ostler as relieving officer for the Elmham district in place of George Bond deceased. Ostler was granted another week to prepare himself for his duties. Mr Cary [John Cary] and Mr Horne [Joseph Horne], Relieving Officers of other districts have performed the outrelief duties since Bond's death. The guardians resolve to remunerate them for this extra action and the expenses of horse hire by paying them a gratuity for which they now request sanction.
Annotated: 'Sanction the appointment of Robert Ostler. Sanction payment of the gratuity proposed.' 23 February 1870.
