Lodge of Benevolence was granted a warrant by the Antients Grand Lodge to meet as No. 310 on 31 October 1797. The Lodge was constituted on 1 March 1798. In 1797 the Lodge met in Private Rooms at 11 Paradise Street, Blackburn, Lancashire. From1799 the Lodge met at various inns and taverns in Blackburn. After the Antients' Grand Lodge and Moderns' Grand Lodge formed a union as the United Grand Lodge of England in 1813, the Lodge was renumbered as No. 394. In 1832 the Lodge was renumbered to meet as No. 273. In 1845 the Lodge relocated from Blackburn to Littleborough, Lancashire, meeting at the Red Lion Inn, Halifax Road. In 1863 the Lodge was renumbered to meet as No. 226, its present number. The Lodge now meets at the Masonic Temple, Richard Street, Rochdale, Lancashire.
